    The battle was at the time considered to be an American defeat. British won. The Battle of Bunker Hillis was consider the first major battle of the Rolutionary War. General Howe was english commander and General Artemas Ward was general for the U.S natian. The battle was on the Charlestown Peninsula on the North side of Boston Harbour. For the English they learned a painful lesson from this battle. They captured the hill, out of 2,200 soldiers engaged, 1,034 were casualties.

    Battle of Long Island
    The victor of this battle was the British. Continental General was George Washington. The General of the british was Sir William Howe. This battle took place New York. Washington expected that Howe would attack New York which was held for the Congress marched much of his army south to that city. The British sailed north to Halifax in Nova Scotia. It was the summer of 1776 that Howe launched his attack on New York. Washington built batteries on Manhattan and Long Island to prevent the British.

    The victor from the Battle of Brandywine was the British Troops. The General was George Washington. The British General was William Howe. The size of the army was around 6,000 British and Hessians against 8,000 Americans. Howe brought his army by sea to the Chesapeake intending to capture Philadelphia. On the September 9 1,777 Washington’s army took positions behind the Brandywine Creek at Chad’s Ford. It hastened the loss of Philadelphia to the British. The British failed.

    The victor was the American troops. Major General John Burgoyne lead the british troops in this battle. Major General Horatio Gates and General commanded Washington lead the American army. Of the 7,000 British and Germans who marched from Canada only 3,500 were fit for duty at the surrender. The Two Battles of Saratoga were a turning point in the American Revolution. On September 19th, British General John Burgoyne achieved a small, but costly victory over American forces led by Horatio Gates.

General George Washington and Major General Charles Lee were the Continental Generals for American Troops. General Howe returned to England, relieved of his appointment in command in America at his own request, to be replaced by General Clinton. George Washington moved his army across the Delaware River with the goal of attacking General Clinton as his troops marched from Philadelphia to New York.

The Americans had around 1,000 men and the British around 1,100. This small battle had an effect disproportionate to its size. As seemed to be the case throughout the war British victories achieved little in the long term while every American victory gave encouragement to the colonies.

    The General were Lord Cornwallis against General Nathaniel Greene. The british won this battle. It took place in North Carolina. The largest, most contested battle of the Revolutionary War's Southern Campaign was fought at the small North Carolina backcounty hamlet of Guilford Courthouse. Following the battle Cornwallis began his move into Virginia which led finally to Yorktown and his surrender.

The capitulation of the British to the Americans and French ended the fighting in the war and led to the Peace Treaty that acknowledged the independence of the American states.
