    This is the earliest surviving painting by Annibale Carracci. In the painting Carracci used oil on canvas which was very popular during the Baroque Period. Annibale Carracci would paint all his work in life size and full length allowing people to feel in trapped in the painting. Carracci used the trick of illusion in his work. When he did this he was making the viewer of the painting feel like they were in the painting. Annibale Carracci often did religious figures and landscapes in his work.

    This painting is known as a Chiaroscuro which means light dark. This Caravaggio painting you can see how part of it the sun is shining through and the other half is shaded. When doing this it makes the viewer almost become a part of the painting. In this painting we see Jesus Christ (wearing a halo) pointing directly at Matthew choosing him to be a disciple. In this the light hits directly as Christ finger and lands directly on Matthew while others are in shock he was chosen by Christ Jesus.

The way that he makes them look normal is usually their clothing and how simplistic they are. He was always criticized for the way he portrayed the sacred people; and he was also a criminal.

This is painting has always meant a lot to me showing that women were strong back then. Also that this woman was not afraid to show how this affected her and the way it made her feel.

He has been compared to Shakespeare in his importance to the world of theatre and literature. His work was always so detailed it looks like real people were doing this and frozen in time. All of his work had this much detail.

This makes so many happy showing that all bodies are beautiful and worthy of art. All people love that this was given so much time.

The reflection of the candle in the mirror is also something a lot of artist took inspiration from. De la Tours techniques were a lot like Caravaggio in a lot of ways.

But also scared for a war about to happen.

    This is one of Berninis most famous sculptures. This sculpture is made of pure marble, it is carved in such delicacy that is makes the Saint look as light as a feather. In this sculpture the Saint is in a state of ecstasy we can see this in her facial expression and the way her body is laying. Bernini put so much detail into this that she looks real and you can tell what is happening. This sculpture is in between the theatre boxes and is directly opposite of the sculpture of the Cornaro family.

    Velázquez was a Spanish Baroque artist who painted for King Phillip IV. This led him to making the majority of his paintings court officials and the Spanish royal family. He is known for painting for the royal family but also his attention to detail. This painting the little girl is the Phillip IV’s daughter named Infanta Margarita. She is surrounded by female attendants and he paints her to look very rich. The interesting part in this painting is that you can see him painting the little girl.
