The Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919 as a result of WW1. The treaty harshly punished Germany and forced them to pay billions in reparations, admit guilt for the war, and decrease their military. This puts Germany in extreme debt and anger. Japan, even though they were a part of the allied powers, was ignored and didn't gain anything from the treaty. Japan's leaders were upset and stormed out while the treaty was being made.

In 1922, Benito Mussolini led a group of 30,000 other fascists to overthrow the king of Italy. The group forced the king to yield to them and on October 29, 1922, Mussolini was elected as prime minister of Italy.

"Mein Kampf," translating to my struggle, is a book that was published by Adolf Hitler about his struggle in life. Hitler was a part of the Beer Hall Putsch, which was when Hitler and 2000 other nazis tried to overthrow the government but were unsuccessful.

In 1933, after a lot of speeches and propaganda trying to make him popular with the people of Germany, Adolf Hitler was appointed as the chancellor of Germany. He immediately started discriminating against the Jews. The Jews were forced to wear the Star of David when out in public or they would be arrested. The Germans loved Hitler so much they just let it happen.

While invading China, one of the many war crimes that Japan committed was the Rape of Nanjing. They killed almost all civilians they saw and raped all the women.

On October 3, 1935, Italy invades their first target, Ethiopia. Italy ended up taking over ethiopia although they eventually have to give the land back.

Japan invades China in 1937. They committed many war crimes against China and invaded them for no reason except to take more land.

Germany and Italy sign a pact, putting them in an alliance. Both of these countries are run by dictators and they have bad intentions. Germany and Italy both want to dominate the world.

Despite Britain and France warning Germany to not invade anywhere else and not declaring war already even though Germany was violating everything in the Treaty of Versailles, Germany invaded Poland, starting World War 2.

In 1940, Germany, Italy, and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact, allying them with each other. They all are invading countries trying to take over the world while everyone else is trying to stop them.
