You could not use inorganic matter to make organic matter, and once organic matter became inorganic, it could not go back to being organic. This was called the theory of vitalism. however, scientiest Friedrich Wohler proved this wrong by making urea with cynate and amnomia solution. This lead to more experiments agianst the theory of vitalism, even though his experiment was techinically wrong. -

Sythesis begans
Decades after chemical dna was discovered, the chmists discovered methods of sythesizing dna. One of the earilest of these includes a biochemist Gobind Khorana (as shown in the image) making a syntheisis of a 75 base pair double stranded dna. This was followed by the first man made functional gene out of e. coli. -

The near future
As viruses develop, gene therapies develop. If viruses can be devolped that can give cells healhty dna, we may be able to cure diseases like cancer or alzhiemers. With the progress we are making now, anything is possible.
