  • The French and Indian war

    The French and Indian war
    The war started in january of 1754 and ended in febuary of 1763. The French and Indain war was fiught iver the Ohio River Valley. They wanted it because of the three rivers and the great fur trade.So when the French expanded onto it the British had to take charge. At first the French appeared to be winning but when they ran out of materials the British took over and won. The only downside to that is the fact that the British quickly went into debt.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was intended to help the indians by controlling the settlement of people on their land. On the plus side they gained a lot of land. Therefor making the french lose a lot of land and Native American allys.
  • Pontiacs war

    Pontiacs war
    Pontiacs war was a war between the British and the Native Americans. They fought this war because the Native Americans wanted the land that the British had gotten from the French. It was named Pontiacs war becase of their leader Pontiac. It had a big effect on the colonies because the Native Americans attacked forts in Pennsylvania,New York, Maryland, Michigan, and Virginia.

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was a law saying that colonists where not allowed to settle west anymore. The purpose of this law was to please the indians so that they do not keep attacking them. However the colonists did not like this rule and did not listen very well.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    The Sugar act is a tax on the colonists that taxed all sugar, molasses, etc. They enforced this law to get money to help pay for the debt they caused during war witht he French. People where not happy about this law they refused to buy these products and smuggled their own.
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    The Stamp act is a law that emposes tax on all paper documents. They used this law to also help pay fot the debt from war. The colonists did not respond well and were very angry. The Stamp act was worse then the Sugar act because it effected a lot more people therfor causing more outbreaks. The colonists fought back by creating mob violence, and just completely rebelled.

    Quartering act
    The Quartering act was a law requiring all colonists to house british soldiers. The government enofced this so that they would not have to spend money for housing them and become further in debt. Colonists had to open their homes to soldiers. They where not very happ they where angry because of lack of privacy and spending extra money to house them.
  • Stamp act congress

    The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting to discuss and put a stop to the stamp act. The leaders of this specific meeting where John Dickinson, and James Otis. During this discussion they wrote the Declaration of Rights and Grievances which was a document stating that taxes could no longer be inposed on the colonists.
  • Townshend acts

    Townshend acts
    The Townshend Acts where named after Charles Townshend who was Chancellor of Exchenquer. These laws where created to tax glass,lead,paints,tea, and paper. They also created the Board of Custons Comissioners law to enforce these laws without a jury trial. Once again colonists where not happy with this and became violent toward tories and british officials. After these outbreaks the government finally got rid of every tax but the tax on tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Masssacre didnt just happen overnight there where insidents leading up to it. British customs requested that the british troops protected them because they where being harrased by the colonists due to the Townshend Acts. This harassment later lead to the Botson Massacre. It all began when the colonists began taunting the British gaurds who where gaurding the Custom House of Boston. Captain Thomas Preston told his men to ready their bayonets and help stand gaurd outside the building.

    Colonists where so angry that they began to throw snowballs and other items at the gaurds. Private Hugh Motgomery was hit with something and got so angered that he shot at the crowd, others soldiers decided to do the same. 5 colonists where killed or almost killed and 3 where injured. After reading about this i personally think that it shouldnt be called the Boston Massacre because only 8 people where effected in total and nromally when you hear massacre it effects a lot of people.

    During this massacre a man known as John Adams became well known for defending British soldiers in trial. He defended them not because he liked them or knew them in person but because he wanted to support the colonial Justice system. That is why he is known as the famous picture for the boston massacre.

    The reason the government created this law was to once again pay off the british debt. Therefor helping the government.They started to make monopolys which where priviliges given to carry on businesses etc.

    Because the government still refused to stop the taxation on tea the colonists where still very angry and preformed the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was when colonists dumped crates and crates of the just docked tea into boston harbor. Overall they dumped a total of 24,000,000 cups of tea into the harbor. You may wonder who was behind all of this, the Sons of Liberty started it all. The government knew they had to now take action so they ounished everyone with the Intolerable Acts.

    of British impotance suddenly immune to criminal prosecution. The final act is the Quertering Act which as mentioned before was when all colonists where required to open there homes up to any British soldier.

    The Intolerable Acst where created as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party. These acts are also known as the Coercive Acts. In these acts where are 4 parts. The Boston Port Act, which closed down the whole entire portt of Boston untill all the damages of the Boston Tea Party where paid off. The second act was the Massachusetts government act which ment that the government controlled all of the town meetings. Next was the Administration of Justice act, which made all people of British imporance

    The First Continental Congress was held as a sesponce persay to the Coercive acts. The following colonies where part of it New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Conneticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Deleware, Maryland, Virginia,North Carolina, and South Carolina. This meeting was so large that it included 56 people. Including John Adams, Isaac Low, William Hooper, and John Sullivan. The two things that the colonies finallly agreed to do was to Boycott British goods, and the

    Lexington and Concord
    Many things lead up to the battle of Lexington and Concord such as the Stamp Act, Boston Massavre, Boston Tea Party, etc. It all satrted when the British troops went to Concord and insisted on ceizing the arms of Cache. Paul Revere sounded the alarm with the others at his side. Militiamen came out to help. What once started as a fight ended up with the British leaving under extreme fire. Concord went to flames.   • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    On June 14,1775 the Second Continental Congress succesfully attacked Fort Ticonderoga. The Olive Branch Petition is when the government tryed to force the rights of colonists while keeping the loyalty to the British Crown. They also made The Declaration of Causes which was a document stating why the colonies had gotten ready for the Revoloutionary War. They also ended up helping the colonies by conducting the war.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The colonists intended to build their defenses on the top of Bunker Hill but the where forced to build them on Breeds Hill. William Presscott led the Americans to the war while Thomas Gage lead the British. The british planned to seperate the colonists and get them to disagree to use as a distraction. During the battle the British where told not to fire and during the time the Americans did and they where forced to retreat so technancly the Americans won. It was also considered a very costly war
