Spaniards set up first Spanish colony in the Dominican Republic and Santo Domingo which served as the capital of all Spanish colonies in South America -
First English Colony
Roanoke Virginia is founded by England. This is the beginning of the English Crown's long control over the North American Colonies. As we know the English soon had control over the Eastern Coast. -
Roanoke Dissapears
The Colony dissapeared for reasons unknown. All contact wih the Colony stopped and no one knows why. -
England Defeats the Spainish Armada
This is the turning point for power between England and Spain. The defeat of the Spainish Armada meant that England had beaten the most powerful Nation in the world. England took this sign and began setteling The Americas feverishly. -
Tensions between Catholics and Protestants
Prostestants and Catholics started having very large issues. Protestants rebeled against Catholics and Catholics tried to regain control. Because of the prejudice from Catholics to Protestants people began wanting to come to the Americas for religious freedom. -
Pilgrims Land at Plymoth Rock
The colonists left England in hopes of Religious freedom and some say for economic opportunites. Before landing on Plymoth they signed the Mayflower compact which is the first sign of Colonists running a government on their own. -
Dutch Buy Manhattan
The Duthc by Manhattan Island and settle it as a trading colony. When the Dutch lost this Island to the English, the English treated it the same way. It became very powerful very quickly and is now the New York we know today. -
The Pequot War
This war cleared out all the Natives from Conneticut which led to this land being colonized. The war also was just another step toward the Indian people standing up against the Colonists. -
Plymoth Merges With Massachusets Bay Colony
The Plymoth and Massachusets Bay colonies merged and became one of the most powerful colonies in America. It was known to be very influential and England kept it in High regard.
