Major, the Middle White boar holds a speech advocating for animal independence. This makes the animals ready for a revolution, and once Major later dies, the pigs are ready to continue to spread his word.
-
Following starvation and mistreatment from Mr Jones the animals revolt against their dictator. During the revolution they oust Mr Jones and instill their own system of governance where all animals are in controll. This new system of governance encourages the animals to work harder, due to the animals also owning the means to production. They also rename Manor Farm to Animal farm.
-
After the revolution the animals sit down and under the leadership of the pigs Snowball and Napoleon they settle on seven commandments for them to follow on animal farm. The commandments cover topics of animals being equal and to avoid the ways of the humans that came before them.
-
The humans, angered by the humiliation of losing a revolution to animals, opt to invade animal farm. Through Snowballs leadership and Boxer the horses might, in addition to the valor of all the animals the animals come out on top, winning the battle. The battle semented Snowball as a popular leader for the people and as the most influencial animal there.
-
With the animals settling in on the farm Snowball proposes the building of a windmill to give them power and increase their standards of living. Napoleon holds a firm stance against the building of the windmill, seemingly not out of any objections to the concept but rather out of defiance to Snowball.
-
During the vote on wether or not to start creation of the windmill Napoleon stages a coup. He brings in his new dogs, who chase out Snowball. With his political opposition gone he is solidified as the dictator of animal farm.
-
In the time following Napoleons coup Napoleon starts changing the commandments and claiming the windmill was his idea. What the commandments say changes seemingly perfectly so that what the pigs are doing at that time is legal and not immoral.
-
A violent storm rages against the storm one night. The storm ravages the farm, damaging several parts, in addition to completely destroying the windmill. Napoleon proceeds to blame Snowball for the destruction of the windmill.
-
Following the destruction of the farm Napoleon opts to engage in trade with two neighbouring farms to rebuild. These two farms are called Pinchfield and Foxwood. While engaging in trade with one farm Napoleon consistently accuses the other of colluding with Snowball, switching which farm he blames consistently.
-
Napoleon accuses several animals of conspiring with Snowball, to which they plead guilty and are promptly excecuted. One of the initial commandments stated that 'No animal shall kill any other animal.', which now has been broken.
-
After the persistent labour of the animals the windmill is completed. With the windmill being completed the pigs preach of increased food yield, which no other animals are sure is true, because no one remember how life was before.
-
The humans, lead by those from Pinchfield, invade Animal farm. Being more prepared than the Battle of Cowshed they seize ground quickly and approach the windmill. Using explosives they annihilate the windmill, prompting the animals to overcome their fear and seize victory.
-
After the destruction of the windmill the construction of a new one is started. During the construction an already strained Boxer overexerts himself and passes away. With Boxer being the hardest worker and one of the most valuable animals this greatly impacts all the animals. His death also ends up setting a president that no animal shall retire.
-
With things on Animal finally settling down the pigs start to implement some new reforms. Among these changes are that all the commandments are erased and replaced with 'All animals are equal, but some are more equal'. Animal Farm also has its name changed back to Manor Farm.
-
With the pigs having seized complete control, and most of the animals capable of remembering how the world used to be passing away the pigs continue with their escapades. They start to wear human clothes and walking on two legs. After getting comfortable the pigs invite humans over to the farm. The humans and the pigs talk together, play together, eat together, and drink together, appearing nearly indistinguishable to anyone looking at them. This finally completes their transition into owners.
