    The new tariff in 1832 was passed, that lowered the rate slightly. South Carolina was not satisfied and chose to pass the Nullification Act, declaring that the new tariff illegal. At the end, it was solved with a compromise, by Henry Clay. South Carolina repealed the act, and the nullification Crisis was passed.
