  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war was a war fought by Britain that caused the British to lose a lot of money making them tax the colonists on everything they could.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was a tax on all paper goods such as land deeds, playing cards, and of course stamps by the king, King George III.
  • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts were taxes on regular everyday things like glass, paper, tea, and even paints!
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was an event that occurred because the colonists were mad about tax so they threw snowballs and stones at the British soldiers and the soldiers started shooting at the colonists.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act was the taxation on tea that caused the Boston Tea Party because the patriots were angry with the Parliament because they had taxation without any representation.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party occurred when the British repealed the Townshend Acts except for tea. The colonist who pulled this off dressed as mohawk indians and were called The Sons of Liberty.This was to prove that if they had tax on it they didn't want it.
  • Paul Revere's Midnight Ride

    The Midnight Ride was to warn 2 of the leaders of the Sons of Liberty, John Hancock and Samuel Adams that the British were coming to Lexington to arrest them.
  • Shot Heard Around the World

    The Shot heard around the world was when the British troops and the minutemen met and battled at Lexington when a stray bullet fired and caused the troops to engage in combat. To this day we still do not know who fired the bullet.

    The Declaration of independence was first written on July 2 as a draft but on July 4 was when they approved and made it a governmental document although no one signed it until July 8. This is why we have the 4th of July!
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was the document that ended the American Revolution and recognized the independence of the Americans. To negotiate the treaty they colonists had the continental congress of five members,John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens negotiate the treaty.
