  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was a tax passed by Britain that was implemented on the colonists to help pay their severe debt from protecting the colonists in the 7 Years War. The colonists thought this was outrageous and this was the first domino that fell, making them mad.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was a law passed by Britain onto the colonists that stated that British soldiers could stay in colonists' houses with no resistance or denial. This was another law passed that the colonists were in an uproar about and further tensed relationships with Britain.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was yet another law passed by Britain that any legal documents and printed papers must have a stamp on them. The result of this was that for every single piece of paper the colonists wanted to use, they had to pay a tax to the British to have that. This yet again infuriated the colonists.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight between American colonists and British Soldiers. The colonists threw snowballs, stones, and sticks at the soldiers, and in retaliation, the soldiers shot them killing 5 and wounding 8.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was another law passed by Britain that was implemented on the colonists that stated that colonies had to buy all of their tea from The East India Tea Company. They also had to trade through them and use their ships. This made the price of tea go up for the colonists and they were furious.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In retaliation to the Tea Act, the colonists went through with the Boston Tea Party. At night, many colonists got onto an East India Tea Company ship, loaded with tea, and dumped more than 92,000 pounds of tea into the sea. Therefore, Britain and East India Tea Company lost lots of money because of this.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the Revolutionary War between the colonists and Great Britain. An event that happened during this was, "The Shot Heard Around The World," which was the first shot fired in the American Revolution. Nobody knows who fired the first shot as both sides blamed the other, but it caused major controversy.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    Common Sense was a pamphlet that was 47 pages long urging the colonists to break away from Great Britain. It highlights all of the dishonors King George III has done and how they are just a pawn in their money-making scheme. This showed the colonists they were only there for Britain's sake of making money and eventually lead to the creation of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Declaration of Independence is Signed

    Declaration of Independence is Signed
    The Declaration of Independence was a list of grievances towards King George III and highlights all of the reasons the colonies wanted freedom. The declaration was wrote by delegates of all colonies but Thomas Jefferson is the one who gets much of the credit for doing it.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of The American Revolution. This battle was a British surrender and made the British government begin working on a peace treaty with the colonies. General Nathanael Greene had taken over command of the American Continental Army in the South.
