  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts

    The act of encouraging navigation and shipment.
  • French and Indian War ends

    French and Indian War ends

    England defeats France and Native American allies. Britain does not have enough money so they begin to tax everything.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act

    Britain passes the stamp act which taxes legal documents, newspapers, and playing cards. This heated the colonists.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre

    Colonists were not happy with the taxation caused by the British parliament so they protested on the streets by throwing sticks, stones, and snowballs. Nine British soldiers were killed and five colonists.
  • Tea Act

    Because of the chaos the British parliament passed the tea act. The act stated that imported tea may be shipped directly to colonies without first going to England. Avoiding a “middleman”. Although this meant getting tea faster and cheaper the colonists did not approve.

    The patriots did not approve of the British East India company. They stated, “no taxation without representation”. This led to the dumping of chests of tea in the Boston harbor. This made the British parliament angry.

    America defeated the British army which led them to more chances of independence.

    Was the last major battle, started a new nation’s independence, and proved Washington was a great leader.

    After all the battles and a good proven leader the United States Constitution was written. This document stated the things the government was allowed to do.

    The United States Constitution was signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
