  • Navigation Acts

    The Naviagtion Acts were laws were passed by England to maintian control over colonial trade.The Naviagtion Acts made the colonists buy British goods and other countries.
  • Writs of Assistance

    The Writs of Assistance were passed by the British because colonists were smuggling goods. This made it legal for the British soldiers to search and property looking for goods.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The document that ended the war between the British and the French that was fought over the Ohio River Valley. This treaty ended French power in North America and expanded British territory.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation line was mad to keep the colonists and the natives from fighting.The line it made the colonists angry because they thinks it theirs and they cannot go past the Appalchian mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act were passed by the British in 1764 and it lowered the price of tax to 3 pence. The British enforced this tax strictly and had harsh punishments for smugglers.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act were taxes that were being passed by the British Paraliment because they were'nt making enough money for the French and Indian war. It made all the colonists to buy stamps and stamp marks from England on evry pices of legal paper and other printed papers.
  • Quartering Acts

    The Quatering acts were passed by the british in 1765. It required all colonists to house British soldiers and provide them withe supplies. They also had to pay the cost to provide housing/supplies.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The Stamp Acct Congress boycotted British goods and petition the King. Their cry for this was "No Taxation without representation!"
  • Declartatory Act

    The Declatory Act was passed by the British in 1766.That particulair law said that British government had supreme authority to govern the colonies. Ameriscans chose to ignore this declaration, but the struggle for who will control the colonies had begun.
  • Towshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts of 1767 were passed by the British . The King believed taxing goods before they got into the colonies would make the colonists less angry. This meant no more meetings, or assemblies, in New York until every troop is housed by New Yorkers.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre happened on the evening of March 5, 1770 when a British Guard stood before a mob, while protecting a British customs location.He called back up and there was yelling throwing of things and every thing escalated fast. British soldiers opened fire, without order, killing four people instantly and one person died a couple days later.

    The Coersive Acts,a.k.a Intolerable Acts, were given to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. There were four laws that were included with the acts. Two of then were | 1. No ship could enter or leave the Harbor,not a small boat either. 2. Massachusetts colonists to hold town meetings more than once a year without the govenors permission.
  • Delcaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4, 1774 declaring that all men are equal and all men have basic human rights. Congress considered Lee's Resolutin for Independence.
  • First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress was in September 1774 in Philadelphia. They voted to ban all trade with Britain until Intolerable Acts were repeald. They also called on the buildin of a militia for the colonies, they were called minutemen.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord happened on April 19, 1775 when the colonist were warned by William Dawes and Paul Revere, but Paul gets captured between Lexington and Concord. Colonists were warned and the minutemen were ready. 700 British troops and 70 minutemen waiting. No one knows who shot first but it's known as the "shot heard around the world".
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress meets in Philedelphia again on May 10, 1775 and agreed to make an offical army. They named George Washington the general and authorize printing of money to pay soldiers. Petition King George 3 for peace in an attempt to avoid war.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill happened on June 17, 1775 when the Birtish was alarmed and they attack with 2,200 soliders.The colonists didnt have alot of ammo so loss was certain. The British fell back and charged again and again, then eventually the British won.
  • Olivie Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch Petition happend on July 8, 1775 when the Continental Congress sends the document to England (it asks to restore harmoney between the colonists and England). But the King rejects the petition. He insteads sets out to "master" the colonies. The reason its called OLIVE Branch Petiton is because olives historically symbolize peace.
  • Common Sense

    In the early 1776, most colonist wanted to avoid war with England, but after 'Common Sense' was published many changed their minds. It was created by Thomas Pain and it argued that a complete break with Britian was necessary. This was an success. It sold 100,00 copies in three months.
