  • Lexington and Concord

    This was one of the first American victories of the war. Even though they won, the British succeeded in destroying cannons and supplies in Concord.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    The green mountain boys along with Benedict Arnold overtook a small British unit at the fort and stole some belongings. They stole a cannon that they used to defend Boston from the British navy, which caused them to focus on New York instead.
  • Bunker Hill

    The British defeated the Americans, but the Americans still did a lot of damage to the British Army. This gave them a little morale boost.
  • The Battle of Trenton/ Princeton

    George Washington and his army defeated a group of Hessian mercenaries before leaving. Later, the conducted a night raid and captured Princeton on the 3rd of January.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The battles of Saratoga were a huge victory to the Americans over the British. This was a turning point in the American revolution.
  • Siege of Charleston

    The siege was a very important win for the British because it caused them to focus more on the southern colonies. The capture of the harbor gave them a vital naval base to conduct their operations.
  • The Battle of King's Mountain

    The battle was between American and Loyalist militias In South Carolina, which ended with a key victory for the Americans.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    With the help of the French, the Americans encircled the British escape, led by general Cornwallis. After 3 weeks, Cornwallis surrendered to Washington on October 17,1781, pretty much ending the war for Independence.
