  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Location- Massachusetts
    British commander in Boston sent a detachment to go to Lexington and Concord to seize stores of colonial gunpowder and capture the "Rebel" leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock.
    At Lexington the Minute Men were shot by the Red Coats, 8 were killed. In Concord the British were forced to retreat back to Boston, due to the Americans being well prepared to fight.
    Britian now had a war on its hands.

  • Siege of Ft.Ticonderoga

    Siege of Ft.Ticonderoga
    Location- Ticonderoga Essex County, New York
    After a small force of Greem Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold overcame a small British garrison at the fort, they then supplied themselves with cannons and used it to fortify Dorchester Heights. This created problems for British Comminication.

    Americans proved to themselves and the the world that they could stand up to the powerful British Army, and win. A few days later George Washinton and a group of men would see the British flee from the hill.

    1st defeat suffered by the Continental Army. Richard Montgomery dies, much of Benedict Arnold's men were killed. The British re-established control over the province.

    British General William Howe defeated General Charles Lee. George Washington lost about a quarter of his entire command. British saw the importance this region had in maintaining communication with the north and south.

    British Victory. surrender of the entire garrison at Ft.Washington. British re-assured their control of New York and of Eastern New Jersey.

    Hessian Comander Colonel Rahi surrenders to George Washington. The Americans victory helps boost moral for Washington and his troops.

    Location- Princeton, New Jersey
    The americans outmanoeuvered the British. Death of General Mercer. The americans also cleared most of the British Army in New Jersey. George Washington was seen as a leader and a reasource for quick decisons.

    Location- Pennsylvania
    British and Hessians were able to drive the Americans out of Brandywine creek, and gain control of Philadelphian. The British would later gain control of the capitol.

    American victory.
    British General Burgoyne surrenders.
    France and Spain declare war on Britian.

    Greatest lost of men and equipment for the Americans. Britian gained nearly complete control of the southern colonies.

    The defeat of the British forced Cornwallis to abandon his plans to invade North Carolina and caused him to retreat south.

    British lost 39 officers, 829 were captured, this victory gave great encouragement to the colonies.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    American Victory
    General George Washington's resounding defeat of Lord Cornwallis's British Army. Caused the British to surrender and effectively ending the American Revolution War.
