  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    It was the first campaign that proved colonial militias could defeat a stronger, better armed British force.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga
    A small group of militias from Massachusets and Conetticut, led by the Green Mountain Boys, attacked British troops at Fort Ticonderoga. They ended up deafeating the 48 defenders and taking control of a large amount of guns and cannons.
  • Bunker (Breed's Hill)

    Bunker (Breed's Hill)
    The British attacked the colonists on a group of hills in Charleston, Massachuets. Although the Birtish ended up with the victory, the colonists inflicted far greater cassulties and proved they could fight in a full scale battle.
  • Trenton/ Princeton (The NJ Campaign)

    George Washington counter-attacked against the Birtish in the area of Princeton and caused around 250 Birtish troops to surrender. This victory provided a great morale boost to the Continental Army and encouraged more colonists to fight in their army.
  • Saratoga (Bemis Heights)

    Saratoga (Bemis Heights)
    The Battle of Saratoga in New York was a major turning point in the war. The battle caused Great Britain's General Burgoyne and 6,000 of his troops to surrender to the Continental Army.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Siege of Charleston
    One of the last major battles of the Revolutionary War, it occured after the focous of the war was shifted to the southern colonies. The Continental Army and the French Army surrendered a total of 5,226 troops.
  • King's Mountain

    King's Mountain
    Patriot miltia men ambushed Loyalist militia on King's Mountian, South Carolina. They quickly surrounded the Loyalists and caused many fatalities. This destruction of the Loyalist miltia caused the British to throw out their plan to advance into North Carolina.
  • Cowpens

    Cowpens
    The Battle of Cowpens was a key victory for the Continental Army. It gave the colonists an upper hand in taking back over South Carolina from the Birtish.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Yorktown was the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. General Cornwallis surrendered along with 7,500 of his men in Yorktown, Virginia, causing the United States and Great Britain to enter peace talks. These talks resulted in the Treaty of Paris, thus ending the Revolutionary War
