    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These were the first battles of the Revolutionary war. The British were marching to find weapons and ammunition. 8 colonists died in Lexington.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
    400 militia planned to seize Fort Ticonderoga which was rich with military supplies. Benedict Arnold learned that a group called the Green Mountain boys also planned an attack. So they joined forces and took the fort over.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    William Prescott set up posts on Bunker Hill and Breeds Hill. When the British noticed they assembled and charged. Because they were low on ammution Prescott said don't fire until you see the whites in their eyes. Eventually the militia ran out of ammunition so they fled. Even though the British won the battle it was a true win for the Militia because over 1,000 British were dead or injured.

    The Battle of Long Island was a big loss for the Continental Army. Even though they badly lost one Patriot, Nathan Hale, bravely disguised himself as a schoolteacher and spied on the British. They did later catch him and killed him. He died saying,"I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."

    The Battle of Trenton started when Washington led is troops across the Delaware River and took the British by surprise. They won the battle and kept on marching on.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga
    After British General Burgoyne and his army captured Fort Ticonderoga they need some supplies After they lost a battle in Vermont they retreated to Saratoga. There Burgoyne was in trouble and the Americans surrounded his army. 10 days after the battle begun they surrendered which changed the course of the war.
  • Battle of Monmouth

    Battle of Monmouth
    The Battle of Monmouth was led by Charles Lee who was sent there later to be met by George Washington. He sent them there to harass the British. Lee was ordered to engage the redcoats until Washington got there. After hours of fighting with the Continental Army nowhere to be seen they retreated without Washington's orders. That did not go well with him.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    The Battle of Cowpens happened after Nathanael Greene replaced Gates split his army in two. From there one went to Cowpens, North Carolina. There they defeated the British which helped General Cornwallis give up the campaign to conquer the Carolina's.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    At the Battle of Yorktown started with the French and the Patriots coming together and plan an attack on the British. Eventually that plan did not fall through. Eventually though they did find an opportunity farther south in Yorktown, Virginia.
