  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War

The French and Indian War was about a battle between the French/Native Americans and the British/Colonists. This war was to get land that the French owned. The King wanted to win the war for the land so he spent a lot of money in weapons and training for the Colonists. This put him into debt by millions of dollars.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763

The Proclamation of 1763 restricted the Colonists from going past the area that they've already settled in. This made the Colonists mad because they couldn't go explore the land that they fought for.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act

The Stamp Act places taxes on all paper products. It was parliament's first serious attempt at getting control over the colonies. The Stamp act was used as an attempt to collect money for the debt that the French and Indian War gained.
  • The Sugar Act of 1764

    The Sugar Act of 1764

The Sugar Act taxed all sugar products because the King had to pay off debt. This angered the colonists because they were losing money to sugar, so they started boycotting the products.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre increased tension between the British and the Colonists because the English soldiers killed the unarmed colonists without permission.
  • Turning Point

I think the turning point of the war was the Boston Massacre because only colonists died during it. The soldiers also fired their guns without permission and the colonists were not armed. This angered the colonists because the British had already made them lose a lot of money and now they were losing people! So, the colonists decided that war was the only solution to this whole mess.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act

The Tea Act lowered taxes on tea so much to the point where it was the only tea that the Colonists could afford. This made the Colonists mad because they did not want to support the King and they did not want the tea that the British sales' people was offering.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party occurred because the Colonists were angry about the tea act. The Colonists had decided to throw thousands of dollars worth of tea off of the ship that they had come in. This upset the King because he was losing money and tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts

The Intolerable Acts were made because of the Boston Tea party. It made the Colonists build and house British soldiers. The King also closed the Boston Port so the Colonists were losing out on money and trade.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord

The Battle of Lexington and Concord is the first major battle in the American Revolution, aka the starting point. This battle happened because the Colonists did not like that they were being taxed without representation and felt the need to get away from the British.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition

The Colonists attempted to send a petition to the King as a last resort for compromise instead of war. This plan failed because the King needed the money that they were trying to keep away from him. Instead of just saying "No", the King went on to rip up the paper that the Colonists had spent time making and this angered them.
