  • Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts were laws passed by England to maintain control over colonial trade. The acts made colonists buy English goods and limited trade between the colonies and other countries.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Law made by British to stop colonists from smuggling goods to avoid taxes. This law was essentially a warrant for any and all properties. This law made it legal for British soldiers to search any property looking for goods.
  • Treaty of Paris of 1763

    The document that ended the war between the British and French that was fought over the Ohio River Valley. This treaty ended French power in North America and expanded British territory and British debt
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation Line of 1763 was a law that was passed by the England to keep the natives and colonists from fighting. This Line makes colonists angry because they cannot go west past the Appalachian Mountains which is land the colonists think belongs to them since they won the war against the French.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act of 1764 were laws that were passed by the British ,after the old Sugar and Molasses Act of 1733 was about to expire, to tax sugar or things with sugar in it. This new act only taxed 3 pence which is less than their last sugar tax because they hoped for more people to pay, and they also enforced this act strictly for the same reason.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act were laws that were passed to tax something that everyone uses to make enough money to pay for the French and Indian War. This act made all colonists purchase stamps and stamp marks from England to put them on every piece of legal paper and other printed papers. This act was different from the others because everyone has to pay not just merchants.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    This was a meeting to discuss a unified protest against the Stamp Act taxes on the colonies. They decide to petition the King and boycott British goods.
