    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was the North American conflict in a larger imperial war between Great Britain and France known as the Seven Years’ War. The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III and it decreed that British colonists for forbidden from settling past a like drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act, also known as theAmerican Revenue Act, was a revenue-raising act passed by the British Parliament of Great Britain in April of 1764. It was intended to raise funds for Britain and it was a very effective choice since sugar is usually used with tea, a very popular beverage choice among British people.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was issued in 1765. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed.

    The Quartering Act required all colonists to provide the British soldiers with any needed accommodations or housing. It also required colonists to provide food for any British soldiers in the area.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    Occurring on March 5, 1770, the Boston Massacre was not a massacre but it did have a huge affect on the colonists. Some colonists had started rioting against the British soldiers which resulted the soldiers to open fire in the crowd. Only 5 died but the massacre is remembered as key event in rousing public interest to the Patriot cause.

    The Battle of Alamance actually happened in North Caroline. It was the final battle of the War of Regulation which was a rebellion in protest of taxation and local control.

    The Tea Act of 1773 was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain. The principal objective was to reduce the massive amount of tea held by thefinancially troubled British East India Company in its London warehouses and to help the struggling company survive. However, it greatly angered the colonists and led to the Boston Tea Party.

    The Intolerable Acts were the American Patriots' term for a series of punitive laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea party. They were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in throwing a large tea shipment into Boston harbor.

    Fighting at Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, started the American Revolutionary War (1775-83). Tensions had been building for many years between residents of the 13 American colonies and the British authorities.A confrontation on the Lexington town green started off the fighting, and soon the British were hastily retreating under intense fire.
