The Boston Tea Party
This was an effect of the partial repeal of the Townshed acts. People expected the same outcome from the repeal of the Stamps Act. The crown taxed the colonists on sugar and tea. The Gaspee was burned by colonists angry about taxes and British harassment of their ships. -

This was a time when the colonists were furious with the goverment. They did actions to protest the goverment, known as the intollerable acts. For example, Boston Port Act, Administration of Justice Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Quartering Act of 1774, and Quebec Act. -
Common Sense is published
This book by T. Paine, challenged the British government and royal monarchy. This was the very first public declaration of a plea for independence from Britain. -
French Alliance
The United States and French signed the French Alliance. The treaty provided for a defensive alliance to aid France should England attack, and that neither France nor the United States would make peace with England until the independence of the United States was recognized. -
U.S. Constitution signed
The constitution was signed by all the major names in history. This was a sign that America was changing for good. Although it was not official untill New Hampshiore ratified it, the colonists were happy. -
U.S. Constitution adopted
The U.S. Constitiution was officially adipted when New Hampshire ratified.
