  • Treaty Of Paris

    This treaty ended the French and Indian war. This War cost Britain a lot of money, so they decided to tax the colonists. The tension between the two can be traced back here.
  • Sugar Act

    The first of the taxes that Britain forced onto the colonies. This tax increased the price of sugar.
  • Stamp Act

    This law was passed by the British Parliament. American colonies were obliged to pay a fee on almost every piece of paper used for legal documents, licenses, newspapers and etc.
  • Townshend Acts

    This was a series of taxes placed on multiple goods such as sugar, paper, and tea. The colonists rebelled and this was repealed, except for one tax.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Massacre was on the evening of March 5,1770. British troops opened fire into a crowd killing five colonists in Boston. The crowd had gathered in disagreement over the Stamp Act which taxed all legal or printed documents.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Members of the Sons of Liberty dressed like mohawk indians and entered the Boston Harbor. For the tax on tea they threw chest of tea in the harbor
  • Intolerable Acts

    This was a string of new laws that the colonists absolutely despised. This closed Boston Harbor, canceled Massachusetts's charter, sent royal officials to Brittan too try them, forced colonists to house British soldiers, gave land to Quebec, and made a military officer the governor of Massachusetts.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    During this battle, the Brittish tried to take Bunker Hill. They did it, but their death toll was huge. This battle showed that the Americans were willing to stand up to the Brittish for freedom.
  • Declaration of Independence

    This document told the Brittish that the Colonists were breaking away from them. This caused the war to take a new turn.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    This was the final major battle of the American Revolution. French and American troops surrounded the Brittish forces, and laid siege to them. The Brittish was forced to surrender.
