The reason they chose to let them have independence is because of the war preaviously fought between the two of them and they had to pay in order for them to be apart of the empire.

Everyone who signed it like John Adams, Benjiamin Franklin, John Jay, and King George lll, were all influental people representing the US or Great Britian. The document mostly stated that the US and Great Britian had boundries between each other in order to stop conflict.
