  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The British didnt want the colonists to expand out west. Because the bigger they are, the harder they are to govern. So the put a limit to how far west they can go. The colonists didnt like it so they expanded west of the proclamation line anyway.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    British halved the tax in hope the colonists wouldnt steal, but it didnt work because they did it anyway. Obviously the colonists didnt like tax so the smuggled anyway.
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    British forced colonists to buy their products and only theirs. They didnt want the colonists exposed to any other culture. The colonists definetly didnt like this, they wanted to have the freedom to do whatever they wanted.

    Colonists didnt like stamp act so they had parliment repeal it and issue the declatory act.The colonists liked that they had parliment on their side.
  • Boston Massacare

    There was arguing and a angry mob on a cold night and people started fighting. Then people used weapons to attack eachother then the british soldiers told then to stop then when they didnt the colonists were fired upon. The colonists now fully hate the british for firing on "unarmed citizens."
  • Boston Tea Party

    Previously the British didnt let the colonists have NO one elses tea only theirs. The colonists already didnt like that they couldnt trade with other countries and have their things. So when the british taxed tea and forced the colonists to buy it, the patriot rebels through 18,000 pounds of tea into the boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    In response to the Boston tea party the british then put a very tight grip around the city of bostons throat. They shut down the harbor and even moved into the patriots homes. The city of Boston was now fully under british military rule. The colonists then choose to fight back and do the first continental congress.
  • Lexington and concord

    Lexington and concord
    Following the boston massacare and rebels being mad at the british we get warnings the night before from paul reviere and his night riders warning the militia that the british are coming. So at 6 in the morning the 60 colonists stand their ground against the 900 highly trained never defeated british soldiers. To this day no one knows who fired the first shot. It was this battle that started the war. it was the shot heard around the world. the colonists stood their ground and were happy about it.
  • 2nd continental congress/Declaration of independence

    2nd continental congress/Declaration of independence
    The second continental congress was an attempt to make peace with britian. in which the king ignored the colonists, so the colonists continued with their planned independence. John Locke and Thomas Paine influenced Thomas Jefferson in making the declaration of independence. Some colonists were happy about being free of britian but some were not they wanted britian to be with them.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This is the turning point of the war and also the french claim us after this battle. they let it known to the public that they are helping us(patriots). The colonists are obviously happy to win a war and also have the french help.
  • Valley forge

    This was a very very cold and harsh winter in America. Not much happned during this point. It was a low point for the americans.The colonists are starving cold and scared due to this winter.
  • Battle of yorktown

    Battle of yorktown
    This is the last major battle of the revolutionary war. For a while we avoided major battles with the british to avoid major loses. This also leads to our victory and british defeat. The colonists are happy to be independent.
