FDR's New deal was an economic policy that attempted to pull the US of the Depression. FDR dabbled in an era he had no power. The free market always works better than the government artificially setting prices. By some estimates, the Depression was extended by 4 years thanks to the New Deal. It wasn't until the second World War that the US was pulled out of the Depression. The New Deal was declared Unconstitutional by the Supreme court. But this was ignored and is now largely forgotten.
