    During this year the Dutch Trading company sent explorers to establish a new colony called the New Netherlands. Here is where they established a good trade of fur products with other settlements and colonies.
  • William Penn

    William Penn
    William Penn, a wealthy Quaker, got a large plot of land beyond the Delaware River. Penn encouraged other religious to emigrate by promising them religious freedom. The Quakers, Baptists, and Mennonites settled along the Delaware River.
  • John Smith

    John Smith publishes his "A Description of New England" where it is talked about his region of exploration and to what he has found.
  • The Battle of the White Mountian

    This battle occurred west of Prague and it was the end of Frederick V and his influences in Bohemia. Frederick V was an elector Palatine and King of Bohemia but was known more for being the director of the protestant Union.
  • The Mayflower

    The Mayflower
    During September the pilgrims came in the Mayflower to the New World. When they arrived, they decided to form their own type of government. They called their settlement Plymouth. A year later they had the first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans.
  • Boston Massachusetts

    John Winthrop was appointed the governor of the new Massachusetts Bay Company and settles down where we call Boston today. This is also the same man who wrote the 'City Upon a Hill' and his expectations of what the New World was going to do for his country and his colony.

    Charles I leads his army to Edgehill to fight in the Civil war. This battle turned out to be one of the more inconclusive battles in the English Civil war.
  • Continuing the War

    As the Civil War continued, many other battles took place and some were won and some were lost. Charles, I put himself in the hands of the Scottish Amry because they were not allies with the English.
  • Wrapping up the War

    Charles II signs a declaration of policies to heal any and all the wounds of the Civil war that had happened previously. During this year other government and royal officials shift the status' of colonies within the New World.
  • The Great Fire of London

    The Great Fire of London
    A great fire broke out in London that goes on for four days and it destroyed over 13,000 houses and many other establishments.
  • Declaration of Indulgence

    Charles II issues this declaration that suspends the restrictions that were placed on Catholics and Nonconformists.
  • John Locke

    John Locke
    John Locke was a very influential early new American. In this year he published his essay concerning human understanding. His argument for it was that all knowledge is only based on experience and cannot be gained another way. This, of course, was only one document out of many of his that influenced America.
