  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war was fought with Great Britain and the 13 colonies beating France and some Native American tribes. At the end of the war, Great Britain owed a lot of debts. This was a problem for Britain so they taxed the colonists. This was basically the reason the revolution started.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The proclamation of 1763 stated that the colonists could settlle west of the Appalachian Mountains. Great Britain did this to protect the colonists and also to prevent more battles between the Native Americans and the colonies, because they knew the would have to send more soldiers to protect the colonists.
  • Quartering act

    Quartering act
    The Quartering act made colonists share food, water, shelter, and goods with British soldiers. Britain thought this would help them save money.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act required all legal documents to have an official stamp. The colonists rebelled against this tax.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happend on March 5, 1770 in Boston. A group of colonists where out side a tax collectors house and 7 British soldiers where standind guard. The captain of the troop said not to fire, but one soldier heard fire. At the end five colonists laid dead and one of them was an African American. This fight became a symbol of British tyranny.

    Parliament passed a tax that taxed tea. This angered the colonists because tea was very popular back then. Most colonists bought tea from other countries, so they wouldn't get taxed. Great Britain only alllowed their ships to come in from the harbor, so they had to pay the taxes.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonist where mad about Great Britain taxing there fancy tea, so some of the colonist dressed up as Native Americans and boarded the British ship carring all the tea. They ripped open the boxes and poored it in the ocean.
  • First Continental Congress

    In this event, delagates from each colony exept for Georgia came up with strategies to camly live with Britain so they can live in peace and have their own rights.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    This was an attemp by Btitain to destoy and take some supplies. The war was fought against 700 British soldiers and 500 militiamen. This battle was the first battle of the revolution,but the first shot of this battle was called "The Shot Heard Around the World." This battle was a good start for the 13 colonies.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    This battle took place on Breeds Hill during the Siege of Boston, overlooking Boston. At the begginning of the battle, the colonists had a major lead, but when we ran out of gunpowder we were forced to retreat. We did lose this battle, but we made a big effect on the british army, 800 regulars were wounded and 226 were killed.

    Common Sence wrote by Thomas Paine inspired many colonists to help and want to win the war even more. This times best seller sold over 120,000 copies.
  • French Allies

    French Allies
    This was a big help by the French. France helped us by sending soldiers and supplies. They were life savers.
  • Spain Declares War

    Spain Declares War
    At this time Spain was allied with France and when Spain declared war with Great Britian our fight got a little easier because they had to send soldiers in two places and they most likely sent more to Spain becuase they were a great Empire too.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This was the last Major battle of the Revolution. In this battle, George Washington led the Continental army and Comte de Rochambeau led the French army. Together, these two armies beat Great Britain and claimed the territory of Yorktown.
