    Columbus discovers the new world.
    The significance of this event is that it would ultimately lead to new cultures, countries, and mixed races

    Columbian exchange
    The columbian exchange was the swapping of crops, diseases, and products btween the new wolrd and Europe.
    This was extremely significant because the diseases that were transfered thinned the native population, killing them off by the millions. Also, guns contributed to the mass slaughter of natives. Important crops like tobacco were sent to Europe, and popular crops like sugar were sent to the Americas.

    Rise of atlantic slave trade
    The atlantic slave trade, which involved bringing slaves from Africa for manual labor.
    The event led to the main labor source of the new world being black slaves instead of the native indians. Black slaves would remain common for hundreds more years.

    This event would lead to the spreading of European culture, and also more permanent settlements, meaning the forced takeover of native controlled lands.

    The mayflower, carrying the pilgrims, landed at plymouth rock.
    The landing led to other religous and cultural groups making the migration to America
  • Metacom's/King Phillip's War

    Metacom's/King Phillip's War
    Metacom was angry with the new settlers encroaching on native lands and rebelled.
    The events led not only to Metacom's death, but also put an end to any major rebellion from natives against white settlers
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Bacon's Rebellion
    Nathaniel Bacon and other frontiersmen were unsatisfied with Jamestown's native American frontier policy, and rebelled against Govenor Berkely.
    Although this event was unsuccessful, it is still significant because this was the first protest against England by colonists in the new world, which sparked the idea of rebellion, leding to events like the Boston Tea Party, and the Revolutionary War.
  • Pueblo Revolt

    Pueblo Revolt
    Lasted 11 days. The pueblo Indians were fed up with how the Spanish treated them. They rebelled and shut out the Spanish for a while.
    The Spanish eventually returned, but the significance is this event is that is completely changed the way the Spanish treated the natives. The Spanish stopped treating natives so harshly, making this a very important event.

    French & Indian War
    The Britsh and its colonies went to war with France and their native allies over territory in North America.
    The British won, however this would be the very start of the American Revolution due to a huge debt caused by a "blank check" or unlimited spending on millitary.This debt leads to a big blow to the colonists in the form of heavy taxes, damaging the relation ship between the colonies and their mother country.

    The treaty ended the seven years war between Britain and France.
    This document cuased France to give up its land, proving that Britain was the dominant millitary force of the powers, and giving England a new chunk of land.

    England placed a tax on basic goods to pay for their massive debt, which angered the colonists.
    This event put the colonists one step closer to rebellion, and led ultimately to the revolution.

    This document established a weak government, eventually leading to a change of government in America to a stronger, more centralized government.

  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    Territory purchased from France, which doubled the size of the U.S.
    Because of the purchase, settlers moved to the new territories, which led to a new frontier, leading to things like the homestead act, which granted land to families who agreed to farm and live it for a certain time, and created ideas such as manifest destiny, which was the idea that it is the settler's destiny to push westward and settle the new lands.

    Congress passed a bill granting Missouri statehood as a slave state under the condition that slavery was to be forever prohibited in the rest of the Louisiana Purchase north of the 36th parallel.
