    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    On the night of april 18th, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to the nearby town of Concord in an attempt to take a large weapons cache. Paul Revere was doing his midnight ride through the towns when he saw the mass of redcoats approaching. A confrontation on the fields of Lexington started off the fighting. The battle ended with the British retreating under heavy fire. This was the event that triggered the Revolutionary war, with many battles to follow.

    This was the day that George Washington was recognized as the leader of American Forces, this is a significant event because Washington won America the war for independance
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle between the Americans and the British in the war of independance. 1200 american soldiers made an advance on Bunker Hill, stealthily taking it. when the British were informed about it, they immediately attacked with 1500 men. By the end of the battle, the British lost 1054 soldiers, and the amricans lost 367. This was significant because it showed that the american colonial forces were strong enough to take the british territory.

    the common sense pamphlet was written by thomas paine, and it has been said to be the most influential pamphlet of american history. the pamphlet presents an argument for separating from british rule. This is a very significant event because it transformed what was a little colonial rebellion into the american revolution.

    Congress adopts the Declaration of Independance
    The Declaration was created to break the 13 colonies from the political connections with Great Britain, once the colonies became independant, they were able to sign alliances with france, who would help thm in the battle agianst great britain. This is a significant event because its the day that America became its own country

    Washington crosses the Delaware
    on Christmas night, George Washington crossed the Delaware River followed by 2400 men. On the morning of December 6th, Washington led a surprise attack on the Hessian quickly overtaking them. This event is significant because the colonies were all beginning to lose hope in the war, but the news of this battle spreading across the colonies raised the spirits of the nation.

    The battle of Saratoga
    This battle was the major turning point for the revolutionary war. the british planned to attack through the hudson valley meeting with more british troops, isolating new england. but the americans caught the british off guard, putting themselves between the british and albany, and by the end of the battle, the british lost 86 percent of their forces.
  • Alliance with France signed

    After the States created the declaration of independance, they were free to form alliances with anyone they chose, so on february 6th, France and The States signed an alliance stating that France would help if there was an attack by the British, and that neither country would make peace with Britain until the states were recognized by Britain as an independant nation. this is significant because it gave the States a huge advantage in forces, eventually helping them win the war.
  • Surrender of Yorktown

    Surrender of Yorktown
    Trapped on the Yorktown Peninsula, under pressure by the forces of both the United states, and the French, General Lord Cornwallis realized that he had no chance of escaping the situation without surrender. Though some fighting continued, this was practically the event that won the United States independance.

    The American Revolutionary War was formally ended when Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay got together in Paris and signed the Treaty Of Paris. This treaty stated that the British recognize The United States Of America as an independant nation. This is significant because its the event that made Great Britain (and the rest of the world) recognize the United States as an independant country
