Ladybugs
A few days after Alyssa brought home a project from preschool of ladybugs in a bottle, her mom found lady bugs crawling all over the room and spent a lot of time cleaning them up. Alyssa thought it was a pretty gift for her mom, but felt bad when she saw her mom cleaning. In Erikson’s stage of initiative vs. guilt, the crisis is between making an initiative decision that will outcome in a positive way and feeling guilty if your initiative resulted in a poor outcome. -
Orchestra Performance
Alyssa gained the place of second chair in her orchestra class. and feels very accomplished. During a performance she messes up on a few notes and the person in first chair gives her a look. Erikson's industry vs. inferiority stage the crisis in this stage is feeling accomplished in education and feeling upset if you are unsuccessful. -
Status: Single
Alyssa loves to get together with her friends. She has been friends with the same group of people since highschool and their friendships have grown immensely. However, most of her friends are taken and on the verge of engagement and marriage. Alyssa has not found anyone that has the potential of being her husband. In Erikson's 6th stage intimacy vs. isolation, the crisis is between successfully obtaining intimate relationships and feeling lonely if you are unable to find a companion. -
Bed Rest
Alyssa has been put on bed rest for quite a while due to poor health. She often thinks about her accomplishments as a doctor and the amount of giving she has done for her family and patients. She also thinks about how she should've traveled more instead of working more. In Erikson's last stage ego integrity vs. despair, the crisis is between the contentment of how one's life is lived and the feeling of wanting to take a second chance at life but is impossble.
