    The steamer "Laura" was the first to dock at the place which would soon be called Houston because of the Allen brothers.

    In the year 1910, the federal government began to provide funding so that they could build a ship channel that was four miles long east of Allen's landing.
  • Memorial Park

    Memorial Park
    In 1967, a memorial park was dedicated to be a memorial for John K. and Augustus Chapman Allen. The historical marker is found in downtown Houston in a two acre parksite. Improvements are currently being made to the park
