Alexandra's Life

  • Birth!

Alexandra was born four weeks before the expected due date. Weighing in at roughly four and a half pounds, she also had jaundice. We had to stay at the hospital for a little bit so she can get healthier and gain some weight.
  • Introduction to Day Care

Alexandra has been attending day care for a little bit now and we are starting to her about her behavior when she is not around us (the parents). She tends to be shy and takes awhile to warm up towards playing with others.
  • Preschool

Alexandra is still shy around other children. So far in preschool, she always looks towards her teachers for guidance in what she should do. She seems to be unsure of her own decisions and hesitant to try things. We, as parents, plan on socializing Alexandra with more people outside of her norm, as well as encouraging her to explore things on her own no matter who is watching.
  • Specific Interests

Alexandra is now in the 3rd grade. She is starting to develop certain specific interests, such as science, reading, and drawing. She seems to be gifted in reading and science so far, reading at a higher grade level.
  • Concentration

Alexandra is starting to be able to concentrate longer on tasks than she could when she was younger. Starting the 5th grade in a little over a month, she is starting to show excellent cognitive development and is still reading at higher grade levels.
  • Tween

Alexandra just started the 7th grade, and is starting to form her own structure of what she believes is right or fair, and starting to develop physically. Becoming more feminine, she is starting to want to wear makeup and dress a certain way. Saying that all her friends do this or that, therefore she should do it to.
  • 13th Birthday

Alexandra just turned 13, and is excited that she is officially a teenager. To help her to feel more mature with her new 'identity' as a teenager, I have decided to pay her an allowance whenever she helps around the house, without being asked to. We are trying to teach her how to maintain money, as well as maintaining responsibility whenever you want something. This way, whenever she wants to go out with friends to a movie or the mall, she will have to earn money in order to do so. I will no
  • First year of High School

Alexandra just started her freshman year of High School. She is starting to become more moody at home for no reason at all and she is always talking about how her father and I have no ‘idea’ what she is going through. She is clearly showing a personal fable.
  • Thinking about College

Alexandra is 17 years old and starting her senior year of High School. She is starting to thing about where she wants to go to school, and already has a couple schools picked out. She is taking her SATs and ACTs, and is starting the application process to her desired schools. She is thinking about pursing Biology as a degree, with Music as a potential minor.
  • Graduation

Alexandra just graduated from High School, and will be attending the University of Wyoming in the fall. She is 18 years old and seems to be excited for her life ahead. Leaving adolescence and becoming an emerging adult is clearly showing in her day to day decisions.
