Volta was born in Como, Northern Italy. -
1769-
Volta decied to become a physiscit.He began to study electricity, and published 2 books of his ideas. -
1774-
Volta was appointed director of the royal school in Como, and the following year he was advised to the proffesor of physics. -
I776-
Whilst visiting local swaps, Volta observed an unknown gas (swamp gas).The gas was soonly usesed to light gas lanterns. -
1778-
Volta became well known in scientyific circles and was also appointed the proffesor of physics in the university at Pavia. (A position he held for 40 years). -
1797-
Shortly after that Volta observed that frogs legs twiched because the soloution in the leg made a connection beetween the 2 metals. He demonstrated this using a coin and some foil. -
1800-
Volta was led to develope the "voltaic pile" the first electrical battry. -
1823-
Volta retired to his family in Como. -
1827-
Volta died in this year. In the present the term 'Volta' is based on his name.
