Alabam becomes a State

Alabama became a state on December 14th 1819. Itis also known as the yellohammer state and the heart of dixie.

Christmas

Alabama was the first state to recognize Christamas as a holiday. Christmas wasn't declared a U.S. holiday until June 26th, 1870.

Auburn University

Feb 7, 1856

Auburn University opened in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College. It has changed names a couple of times but ever since 1960 it has been called Auburn University.
