    Ghana

    Ghana is located on the Gulf of Guinea. it has lush forests, diverse animal life, and miles of sandy beaches. Ghana is also one of the leading countries because it is wealthy in minerals. Although it is relatively small in area and population, Ghana becomes the first to achieve independents from the colonial rule.

    Mali is a landlocked country of western Africa. It is largely flat and the Niger River flows through the middle. The Niger River functions as the main trade and transportation in the country. Although Mali is one of the largest countries, it has a small population.

    Songhay

    In the 11th century King Kossoi made a region of the country convert to Islam. Songhay was a great trading state from the 15th and 16th centries until its decline.

    Atlantic slave trade

    The Atlantic Slave Trade included between 10 million and 12 million African Americans. Slaves were taken across the Atlantic Ocean from the 16th to the 19th century. By the 1480s, the Portuguese ships would transport slaves and dominated the transatlantic slave trade.
