This was important because it made it a law that no man would be denied their civil liberties or equal protection of the law due to race or color. -

This was so important becuase it prohibited not allowing people to vote based on color or race, thus giving black men the opportunity to vote. -

This was so important because it guarenteed equal treatment for blacks in public accommodations and transportation. -
Booker T. Washington and Tuskegee Institute
This was so important because it was an all black school which helped kids learn in industrial and agricultural work, and was taught by Washington. -
Plessy v. Ferguson
This was improtant becuase it was decided by the Supreme Court the seperate but equal in terms of public facilities and upheld the Jim Crow Laws. -
W.E.B. Du Bois and the NAACP
This was important becuase the NAACP fought to ensure political, economic, and social equality. -

Harlem Renissance
This was important because it was a time of African American culture expression. -
Roosevelt and the New Deal
This was important because during the Great Depression, Roosevelt gave new opportunities and reliefs to the black community. -
Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka
This was so important because it overturned Plessy v. Ferguson, thus saying that seperate was not equal. -
Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
This was so important because it outlawed segregation on public buses. -
Little Rock Nine
It was important because with the ruling that public schools could no longer be segregated it allowed nine black students to go to school in Little Rock, Arkansas. -
Freedom Rides
This was important because this brought whites and blacks together to fight agaisnt segregation in the South. -
MLK and the March on Washington
This was important because it brought together 250,000 people in a peaceful protest for equal rights and it is where MLK's famous speech was. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
This was so important because it prohibited racial discrimination in voting.
