Hitler made it his plan to make sure to torture or kill all the jews. they used the badge to humiliate and embarrass the jews, and to know who the jews are. they also did this to track their every move and to prepare for deportation.

    on November 18th, 1942, the parents of an 18-month-old baby sent a letter asking for help to get their baby girl out of the ghetto and to hide her. they were paying a lady to take care of their child. soon later the girl grew up and the birth mother soon met her and took off together.

    a man found or stole someone's identity card trying to get around safely. this made some people more comfortable with walking around and not hiding as much.

    resident workers helped some Jewish people escape and take them to Sweden. at least 7,200 Jews and 700 of their non-Jewish relatives traveled to safety in Sweden.
