I am really passionate about equal education for all, especially when it comes to gender. Think of all the wonderfull educators we would not have and have had of women were not given equal educational opportunities. -

I find it funny that people did not realize sooner that a teacher can not teach anything more than what they themselves have learned. We must provide our teachers with the education we expect them to teach. -

This is one of the most important educational strides to date. This set of standards and way of testing is even used to this day and sets a way to measure everyone equally. It is an important teaching tool. -
USA professionalize the field of teaching
This is important because it was a major break through for teachers, then and now. It increased salaries, training,and many other things. It made life better for teachers and gave them some of the things they deserve. -
USA Congress passes NDEA
When congress passed NDEA it really made the realization that we need to provide a higher education a reality. Sometimes it takes "competition" to realize we need to step up our game. -

Even though the amount of imigrants that migrated over due to this act was unexpected, it made for much diversity in the classroom. With these imigrants came future generations. We are such a diverse country because of all of the imigrants that have ever moved here. -

I am a special ed assistant teacher so I am really passionate about the education of the disabled and handicapped. ALL children have the right to a good education. Even to this day special education could use some work, but because of acts like this one these children are able to go to school like regular ed children. -

When the Apple II was introduced as one of the first personal computers it became popular in school. This is an important event because it was the starting point for technological advances in the classroom. Technology is such an important teaching tool and we use it everyday in classrooms all over the country. -
USA Congress: IDEA
This is when autism and traumatic brain injury were added to the list of recognized handicap and disabilities. There are so many children these days born with autism it is shicking. Could you imagine where these children would be if they were not considered special needs? This event made it so they recieve the help they need. -
USA Sex-Ed advocated
I think sex-ed is so important. Many children have no one to talk to about this stuff, and by being educated about this in school they at least get some knowledge about safe sex. I believe if we had less restrictive sex-ed classes we would reduce the amount of teen pregnancy and STDs in younger people.
