Right before Tariq is about to leave for Pakistan they have sex. Tariq also asks her to come with him and for her to marry him, but she refuses.

It has become to dangerous and Tariq and his family have decided to leave.

Laila is almost hit with a stray bullet. Mammy finally realizes the danger in staying and agrees they should leave.

As they were packing to leave a rocket hit Laila's house with her parents still inside.

Rasheed has always been abusive. He was mad at Laila for meeting with Tariq, another man, in their own home without him there. He was trying to kill Laila, but before he succeeded Mariam hits him on the head with a shovel and kills him.

Tariq isn't really dead, Rasheed made up the story so Laila wouldn't run away. She invites him over and they catch up while Rasheed is at work.

Laila, Tariq, Aziza, and Zalmai leave to get away from all of the killing in Afganistan.

Laila starts a new life with Tariq and her children by getting married to Tariq.

Because Mariam killed Rasheed she is put into jail then killed in front of many people.
