The Murder trial begins in Darwin. There is intense public interest, dingo jokes and the nation talks about whether Lindy is guilty or innocent. Lindy is also pregnant with her fourth child.

Mrs. Chamberlain is found guilty by the jury and is sentenced to life imprisonment. Mr. Chamberlain is also found guilty and given a suspended 18 month sentence.

A petition of 131,000 signatures calling for Mrs. Chamberlain to be released from jail and a judicial inquiry is presented to Governor General Sir Ninian Stevens. New reports stating that the blood in the car is paint emulsion.

After a 14 month Royal Commission N.T government announce that the Chamberlains are pardoned. Justice Trevor Morling clears the Chamberlains and slams the evidence given by Joy Kuhl and other main prosecution witnesses.

The findings of the third inquest are annouced. N.T Coroner John Lowneds states that neither Lindy or Michael were involved in Azaria's disappearance. The cause of Azaria's death becomes an open finding.
