    Compromise of 1850
    1. The compromise of 1850 was a decision first presented by Henry Clay AKA the "Great Compromiser". It was a series of bills which included a stricter fugitive slave law for the south and the admittance of California as a free state for the North.
    2. This event was significant because it showed that both sides were moderate enough to agree on a compromise.
    3. The south was growing restless with the president for not compensating them.
    4. Both sides were angry about the compromise.

    Bleeding Kansas
    1. Bleeding Kansas was a small sacle civil war inn the ansas and Nebraska area. It was fought between abolishonists and those who were pro-slavery over the issue of popular sovereignty.
    2. It ws a significant becuase it shows tht enough people were radical enough to fight for popular sovereignty.
    3. It was caused by the controversial Kansas-Nebraska act of 1854 which dispeled the missouri compropmise and gave Kansas and Nebraska Popular Sovereignty.
    4. An effect was people using it to gain votes
  • Formation of the Constitutional Union Party

    Formation of the Constitutional Union Party
    1.The Constitutional Union party, headed by John Bell started to form around 1856 and played a role in the border staes during the election of 1860.
    2. This could prove that not everyone in the U.S was a true unionist or secessionist.
    3. The feeling of indecision and not feeling strongly one way or another cuased this party to form.
    4. One of the effects came during the election of 860 when the Constitiutional union aprty won the border states of Kentucky Tennesee and Virginia.

    John Brown's Execution
    1. John Brown was a radical abolishonist who was executed becuase he led a failed raid on Harper's Ferry in order to provise slaves with weapons and start a revolt.
    2. The event proves that a rare few pople were willing to die in order to help stop slavery.
    3. John Brown's execution was caused by his actions at Harper's Ferry.
    4. After John brown's execution many northerner's rang churchbells to show the loss. Many southerners began to stereotype all Northerners like John Brown.

    Secssion of South Carolina
    1. South Carolina was the first state to secede from the union and eventually from the confederate states of america headed by their president Jefferson Davis. 2.This proves that South carolina is morew radical than most states becuase it seceded then, but threatenend to secede back when the tariff of abominations was around. 3.One cause of South Carolina's secession was its strong belief in state's rights.
    2. One effect of South Carolina's secession was the rest of the Deep South seceding.
