    The Election of 1860
    Abraham lincoln was electeed president and brought the Republican party into power without the support of the South. Soon after the election some southern states, such as South Carolina, declared secession. This election brought slavery to the front of politics. The causes of the war were mainly the dussputes between the North and the South over state's rights and slavery. When Lincoln was elected, he believed that is was his job to ensure the removal of slavery.

    This occured six days after South Carolina declared it's secession. The South attacked the Unions supplies. Lincoln learned about their plan and sent a fleet of ships to support Fort Sumter.

    Even before Lincoln officially got into office, the Southern state's claimed secession. Lincoln was elected in 1860, but didnt come into office until 1861 in March. Lincoln was mostly self educated and came from a family with little money, he found his calling in politics when he was young.

This led to the secession of four more slave states. Both sides raised armys, and the Union assumed control of border states.

    He was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. He was the most well-known Confederate commander after Robert E. Lee. Jackson was accidently shot, but survived with an amputated arm, until eight days later when he died of pneumonia.
