  • Porclamation of 1763

    In 1763, King George III declared that the Appalacian mountains were the borderline boudary of the colonies. Many colonists were angry because they bought land west of the mountain range and they were no longer allowed to return.
  • Taxation without Representation

    In 1763 Great Britain placed taxes on everything because they were in debt after the war. This resulted in anger from the colonists.
  • Sugar Act

    Lowered taxes on molasses that was imported by the colonists, due to smuggling throughout the colonies. Put in place by the parliment.
  • Quartering Act

    In 1765 the parliment put this act in place due to the people who were refusing to do their duty, in punishment of the army.
  • Stamp Act

    In 1765, the Parliment placed taxes on all printed items because Britain was in debt and they wanted power. This resulted in anger from the colonists.
  • Townshend Act

    In 1767 the Parliment set a group of taxes on all imported goods. they were trying to make the colonists happy but instead they were outraged and they boycotted British goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    On March 5, 1770, a group of Boston colonists rioted against British soldiers, killing five people in the end. This was caused by accusations against the British Soldiers and it lead to outrage amont colonists, and was used as propoganda against the British.
  • Tea Act

    Tea was shipped to the colonies and sold cheap, because the East India company intended to make a profit. this made colonists angry because they were undercutting merchants.
  • Boston Tea Party

    On December 16, 1773, the so-called Boston Sons of Liberty threw 342 chests of tea overboard a British import ship. The East India Company had intended to make a profit and the colonists acted out from outrage that local merchants were being undercut.
  • Coercive (Intolerable acts)

    King George III and the parliment closed the Boston Harbor as punishment for the Boston tea party. This made citizens become isolated and angry.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    In 1774 55 deligates from every colony (excluding Georgia) who came together to represent the American people in order to gain liberty from the Bristish. Colonists formed malitias to support them.
