    The Group of Seven were a group of commercial painters that was formed in the year of 1920. The group first started calling themselves THE GROUP OF SEVEN in the year of 1919. The first seven members of the Group of Seven were Franklin Carmichael, Lewis Harrison, A.Y. Jackson, Franz Johnston, Arthus Lismer, J.E.H. Macdonald and F. H. Varley. Tom Thomson was included in this group however, he supposedly died while canooing at Algonquin Park. The actual date they formed is unknown.
