  • Stamp Acts

    Stamp Acts
    The Stamp Act was the first tax on American colonists. It stated that everything with a stamp on it, or British seal was taxed. This included every newspaper, legal document, pamphlet, public document, etc. The colonists repealed with a group called the Stamp Act Congress. In 1766 the Act was repealed. Thge significance was the bid to tax on Americans. This violated Liberty because colonists thought they shouldn't have to pay for things that have been free for years.
  • Quartering Acts

    Quartering Acts
    The Quartering Acts required colonists to provide barracks, soldiers' quarters, and supplies for British soldiers. This meant that colonists were forced to allow random strangers into their homes. The significance of this act was to help pay for the cost of maintauining British troops. This violated property. Why? Because people had to let soldiers into their homes.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the result of a lot of built up tension between British soldiers and colonists. This ended up in the killing of 5 colonists by British regulars. This opened up a thought to colonists and showed them that the British weren't there to help. But they were there to put an end to their liberty. This violated peoples right of life obviously because they weere murdered brutally.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act adjusted duty regulations to allow failing companys to sell its largest tea surplus below the prices charged by colonial competitors. East India Tea company was loosing money because it's tea imported couldn't compete with the tea being smuggled in. People were forced to buy from only one brand of tea. This violated right of liberty, because they didn't have the right to buy whatever tea they want.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of men known as the Sons of Liberty dressed as Mahawk Indians. They then boarded three British ships and dumped forty-five tons of tea into the Boston Harber.This showed that the colonists would not stand for the kind of taxes Britain was putting on certain items. This was a violation by the colonists of property because they overthrew the British's tea.
