  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was when the British Government put a tax on stamps needed for official documents. This was one of the first acts that the American colonists began protesting on and resisting the British government. They had boycotts when people refused to buy British goods or printed material. They also did Non Importation agreement. When they refused to sell British goods. This act showed that it voilated their right to liberty.
  • Declartory Act

    Declartory Act
    The same day Parliament repealed the stamp duties it adotped the declartory act. This act made it so Great Britain had full power and authority over the colonies. Many of the colonists were still celebrating that the stamp and townshend acts were repealed and failed to notice the hint that the declartory act was setting them up for more acts in the future. Later on, the colonists responded with anger when this act made it so no protests would be put into consideration.This act took away liberty.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Because of the Stamp act and colonists refusing to buy British goods they got rid of the stamp act and added the Townshend act. This act allowed the british government to tax the colonists on paper, tea. glass, and paint. Colonists again responded with boycotts, after four years the British government repealed the act. However, they did keep the tax on tea. It showed the colonists that Parliament still has control over them. This voilated their right to property because of economic gain.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was conflict between British soliders and colonists in Boston. The Colonists were harassing the soliders and upon the commotion someone called out "fire." The British soliders responded with gun shots and five colonists were killed. The British court systems said the soliders were defending themselves and were set free. This showed colonists that the British government were prepared to use military force. It voilated their right to life.
  • Boston Tea party

    Boston Tea party
    Because of the tea tax colonists refused to buy tea instead they smuggled it in from Holland. When the British government passed the tea act it made it so the British East India Company could sell tea directly to the colonists. A group of men called the "Sons of Liberty" went dressed up as Mohawk indians and dumped forty five tons of tea off the british ships. The British government closed off the harbor for all trading, Known as the Intolerable acts. This event voilated their right to liberty.
