    Columbus lead a group of three ships. (the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria.) His goal was to reach Asia to find gold, pearls and spices. On October 12 the ships hit land.

    The Virginia Company explorers were going on a journey to find gold, and seek a water route to the Orient in Jamestown. There were about 104 settlers that sailed from London to Viriginia. May 14, 1607 the explorers landed on Jamestown Island.

    The pilgrims left England to find religious freedom and find a better life style. The Pilgrims sailed away in the Mayflower. There were 102 passengers and they were going to be on the ship for 65 days. They landed in Plymouth Mass. on Dec. 26, 1620.

    The colony arrived in Salem in June. 11 ships with over hundreds of settlers made it to the New World. John Winthrop was the first to govern the colony in the New World.

    In 1664 New Amsterdam was passed to be in the English possession. 1641 resulted in a war which killed over 1,000 indians and settlers. In 1686 the colony formed the name of New York.

    Penn came because he made a deal with the king. He came to North America because he was escapeing what the Quakers had to go through. He went also to gain religious freedom.

    Benjamin Franklin started the plan of the Albony Congress to solve problems with the Colonists. Twenty-three delegates of the congress would meet in Albany, New York from June, 19 to July 11, 1754.
  • George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne

    George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne
    French gave up without a fight to the opposing British led by John Forbes. The French retreated northward and burned down Fort Duquesne.

    The French and Indian war also had the name the sevens year war. The war said that Georgia's boundries were from the Pacific Ocean to the Mississippi River.
