    Columbus "discovers" America

    Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492 with three ships. They were actually trying to find an easier way to get to Asia. This was important because it was the beginning of the dicovery of the New World.
  • Jamestown Colony created

    Jamestown was the first successful English settlement in the New World. Jamestown was founded for the purpose of easy quick money. Jamestown was very big on the tobacco exports for England. This was important because it was the start of colonization in the New World.
  • Plymouth Colony created

    New Plymouth was the colony's capital. It was also the first settlement in the Plymouth Colony. These people came here for religious freedom from England. This was the start of religous freedom.
  • Massachusetts Bay Colony created

    Massachusetts Bay was founded by rich and wealthy Puritans. John Winthrop was the main founder.
  • New Amsterdam becomes New York

    New Amsterdam was origanally Dutch, but when the Dutch surrendered the colony to the English it was renamed New York. The Dutch took it back a while later and named it New Orange until the colony was permanently signed over to the English in 1674.
  • William Penn creates Pennsylvania

    William Penn created Pennsylvania for the Quackers. Penn and some others purchased the land to create a new colony.
  • Albany Congress meets

    The representatives from Conneticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, met every day from June 19 to July 19. The purpose of these meetings were to plan defense methods against the French and Indians.
  • George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne

    George Washington led a group of Virginian militia to infiltrate Fort Duguesne. The purpose for this was to drive out the French Canadians that enforced the fort.
  • The French & Indian War concludes

    The French and Indian War concluded with the defeat of the French in Quebec. Another factor of the war ending was the signing of a peace treaty in Paris.
