    Columbus "discovers" America

    Christopher Columbus never planned on “discovering” a new land. His original plan was to prove that the earth was not flat, that, in fact, it was round. Upon his journey, he came across a land new to the Europeans. However, it was already inhabited. So, in some points of view, he did not discover it. Although to the Europeans he did. However, he did discover new regions of America.
  • Jamestown Colony created

    Jamestown was the first permanent English colony established in America. It is now where Virgina is present-day. It was named after King James the first in England.
  • Plymouth Colony created

    The pilgrams founded this colony at Plymouth Massachusetts, sometime in December, 1620. Many pilgrams died on the journey there on the Mayflower ship. The survivors were the ones who formed the colony. Upon arrival they became friends with the near by Native Americans. If I am correct they had a huge feast, which is why we celebrate Thanksgiving.
  • Massachusetts Bay Colony created

    This colony was founded by English Purtains. The people who founded it were most likely wealthy and educated. It is what is known a Massachuestts now days.
  • New Amsterdam becomes New York

    New Ansterdam was origanally to be passed down to the English settlers. However there was a war over possesion of the colony. About 1,000 Indians died in the war. In the end the English settelers had poessesion of the colony. They renamed it, as what we know today, New York, which has become one of the largest, and most populated cities in the world.
  • William Penn creates Pennsylvania

    William Penn created Pennsylvania to escape religious persicutiuon. He belived in religous freedom. In 1677 he wrote the Pennsyvania constitution
  • Albany Congress meets

    The Albany congress meeting was held in Albany, New York. Twenty three people meet. The purpose of the meeting was to keep the French from gaining control of the Ohio Valley.
  • The French & Indian War concludes

    The French and Indian war came to an end with a signing of the peace treaty. The French won. They were given more land and control over trading and sea routes along with many other advantages in the New World. They helped shape America today.
  • George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne

    We all know George Washington. He is known as our very first president. Obviously he's very famous. But he didn't become famous because he was our first president. He became famous in the Revolutionary War, also known as the war for America's independence. He came up with a surprise attack on the enimies that helped win the war to give the United States independence.
