  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The British wanted to take control of The Ohio River Valley. They wanted to take it away from the French. The Native Americans were on France's side because they thought they would get all there land taken away. The British and French become traditional enemies.
  • Proclamation Line

    Proclamation Line
    The colonists started moving into The Ohio River Valley because France no longer occupied the region. Natives get frustrated about losing their land. King George creates a "shortcut". He states that the colonists can not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This tax was a direct tax; unlike the sugar act which was a indirect tax. It was a tax on all printed goods. The colonists protested and refused to buy anything. There was a Non-Importation Agreement; the colonists agreed not to sell British goods.
  • First Quartering Act

    The protesters started using violent and illegal ways to show their resistance. King George created the Quartering Acts so the colonists would have to house soldiers; they had to provide food, a place for the soldiers to sleep, and a place for them to bath.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    It was a fight between a patriot mob and seven red coats. People can not figure out who started it first but we know five colonists died.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    The King sent 20,000 extra troops for a militia. The soldiers asked for the King to suspend some of the Intolerable acts. King George III wants a quick reaction to all these things he's doing for the soldiers.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A commitee was established to write a declaration for the independance of the colonists.
