Edema is the swelling from fluid accumulation in body tissues. Edema ususally happens in the feet and legs. It is then called peripheral edema. People can develop edema when the level of salt in their body increases. -

The Storm
They saw a blanket of clouds covering the lesser peaks of Everest. A major storm hit the mountain. Eight people died. Two of them were Rob Hall and Scott Fischer. -

7:30 a.m. - Jon Krakauer found Beck Weathers and Yasuko Namba close to death
Beck Weathers layed in the snow for one whole night with his face and hands exposed. When he reached Camp 4 his face and hands were frozen. When he got off the mountain and back home his nose and hands were amputated, Today he has a prosthetic nose and prosthetic hands. -

Hall's Death
Hall died because his hands and feet were frostbitten. He couldn't make it to the fixed ropes. Since he had a radio he called his wife. That was the last that anyone had heard from Rob Hall. -
